    Hello… Me

I’ve been reading a book called ‘Filterworld’ and the way in which capitalism and the algorithmic nature of digital life erodes the sense of self resonated.

So here I am – writing a blog with no social media connected, with search engine and AI crawlers to-be-banned (as soon as I work out how), and the only means of following the writing will be to return manually to the site.

Typing is easier than handwriting. It’s faster – it allows for relatively immediate self-editing – as well as moving things around the page as ideas develop.

This is writing for myself and for my imaginary friends: those real friends that I imagine talking to, as well as friends who fulfil certain requirements of my imagination.

I hope to process thoughts, ideas and creativity without any pressure on presenting myself to anyone else.

But it is still public – I think it’s important that words written can still be read.

I believe in the power of Internet and digital technology to connect – but not through the lens of the companies that insert themselves between us.
